Today was a fun lesson. We used a video of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and paused it strategically to get students to describe what they think will happen next. They had fun with it, but again we need to be stricter in enforcing the structure of their responses. We were looking for them to say something like “I think they will…” so that they are suing future tenses.

Next, we did a dialogue role-play in pairs. They were good at filling in the blanks and following the dialogue, but less enthused to continue the conversation and add their own dialogue. I remembered to check for comprehension and explain any of the key vocab, like “house sit”, as Hilda suggested last night that we could do more of that for unfamiliar words.

Our next activity was a matching game to practice the future perfect continuous. This was just challenging enough I think. The answers were in the textbook so hopefully, they weren’t peeking, but I don’t suspect they were. With the time in mind, I would’ve liked to have the students share the answers when we came back together but instead we just went through the answers and corrected any they got wrong.

To close, we did a short survey for feedback from the class. We wanted to know how they were feeling about the lab and what they would like us to do more or less of. Most students want more games and less group work which is good to know. A few people also requested more worksheets and focused practice activities.
